Terminus Child Safety Standards

Last updated November 1, 2026

Terminus is an app for iPhone and Android for Hypersnap, the open social network that Farcaster accounts also use. It is made by Rune Art Ltd ("we"). This page sets out our standards against child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), how to report it, and what we do when we find it.

  • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and any content or behaviour that sexualises, grooms or exploits children is prohibited in Terminus, with no exceptions.
  • Anyone can report a post or an account from inside the app.
  • We remove CSAM from every service we run, and report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and to the authorities where required.

What isn't allowed

Using Terminus to create, share, request or promote any of the following is prohibited: child sexual abuse material; sexualised images, video or text involving minors; grooming or soliciting a minor; sextortion or trafficking of children; and links to any of these. Terminus is for people 16 and older.

How Terminus works

Terminus is an app for reading and posting to Hypersnap, a public network that no single company controls. Posts are stored by the network's nodes, not by us. We do run the services the app uses to upload photos and videos, load images and link previews, send notifications, and translate posts, and we act on what passes through those services.

Reporting

In the app, open the menu on any post and choose Report Post, or open an account's menu and choose Report. Pick a reason, add anything we should know, and send. Reports come to us at Rune Art. You can also email contact@rune.art.

To stop seeing an account at once, you can also mute or block it from the same menus.

If a child is in immediate danger, contact your local police. In the United States you can also report to NCMEC's CyberTipline at report.cybertip.org.

What we do

  • We review reports of child sexual abuse or exploitation first, as quickly as we can.
  • We remove CSAM from the services we run, including photos and videos uploaded through Terminus, and stop the accounts involved from using those services.
  • We report CSAM to NCMEC, and to other authorities where the law requires it, and keep what the law requires us to keep for investigators.
  • We tell the operators of Hypersnap nodes we use, so they can act on the network itself.
  • We cooperate with law enforcement investigations.

Compliance

We comply with child safety laws that apply to Terminus, including obligations to report CSAM, and with Google Play's and Apple's child safety policies.
